**The Role**
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU) is seeking a motivated individual to join in the position of Communications Officer, at Proof Experimental Establishment in Graytown VIC.

This role includes:

- Assisting the Range Manager with all aspects of access control to the Graytown range space.
- Operating and monitoring multiple communications system. Maintaining communications for all range activities including opening and closing of Range Danger Areas and communications with emergency response services.
- Performing the duties of the Communications Officer and understudy the Range Manager for the management and control of the Emergency Response Centre during all incident control activities and the conduct of the training required for response agencies and sections.
- Maintain the unit Radio/Operations Log.
- Assisting the Range Manager in the supervision, management, training and rostering of unit fire crew members including supervision of vehicles and firefighting equipment.

**About our Team**
JPEU is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch, Joint Logistics Command and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation. JPEU consists of a Headquarters which is spread across VIC, SA and ACT, as well as two ranges at P&EE Graytown VIC, and P&EE Port Wakefield SA.
Employment at Graytown also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately ($184.44 per fortnight).
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively liaise with contractors and external agencies.
- Possess strong time management and organisational abilities.
- Be able to work in a diverse team environment to achieve section goals.

The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes. In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.
