**The Position**

By reviewing, writing and creating new content from Sustainable Farms research findings, the Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for increasing the project’s reach across farming communities in the Wheat Sheep Belt of Eastern Australia. This will include managing social media strategies, working with external contractors to develop publications and videos, managing websites and increasing engagement with media outlets. The ability of the occupant to produce interesting and creative communication products that increase engagement rates with our audiences is an essential element of this role.

**The Person**

The Communications and Media Officer reports to the Director, Sustainable Farms, and will work closely with staff within the Sustainable Farms initiative, and liaise with the Fenner School of Environment and Society and the ANU media team as required. The position plays a key role in delivering effective audio-visual resources, media engagement, and digital marketing campaigns to support the adoption natural asset management practices that enhance biodiversity on farms in the Wheat Sheep Belt. The position will liaise with external partners such as Local Land Services, Landcare, and government departments.

**The School**

The Fenner School of Environment & Society operates within the ANU College of Science. The School is concerned with environmental sustainability in contexts from local to global, undertaking interdisciplinary teaching and research. Supporting an academic staff of approximately 60, +120 PhD scholars, a postgraduate coursework student cohort of +100, and approximately 500 undergraduate students each semester is a support staff of approximately 25 people organised into functional teams: Student Administration, Human Resources and Finance, Communications and Marketing, IT and Technical Services (laboratory and fieldwork). The services provided by support staff within the School are integrated with the Science Administration group at the College level.

**The College**

The ANU College of Science encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.
