**Location** - Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or NNSW
The role presents a unique opportunity to work closely alongside the Director of Operations Supporting and assisting our incoming and existing PALM workers in Sunshine Coast and NNSW with their transition to life and work in Australia and facilitates ongoing support.
The PALM Scheme is a government initiative bringing qualified care staff from the Pacific Island region to work within regional communities in Australia. The PALM Support Officer will have a dedicated focus on ensuring a smooth process for the new employees joining us from Pacific Islands Fiji, in their new role as Assistant's in Nursing, Catering Assistants, or Kitchen Hands. The aim of this position is to be the first point of contact for our PALM employees and provide a range of welfare, training, and practical supports within a geographical area of residential care homes covering Sunshine Coast and NNSW.
**The Role**
This role is designed to work as a concierge and welfare support for the new and existing PALM workers, by offering the following assistance:
- Meeting the new workers at the airport and showing them to their new homes. Introduce them to their surroundings including the local town, shops and work environment
- Assisting the new worker in obtaining groceries, household goods, and set up of mobile phones, transport and other requirements to live in Australia
- Ensure employees understand the expectations around working conditions, as well as their housing provisions with Bolton Clarke
- Facilitate information sessions through PALM and local community support providers for workers on road safety, sexual health, mental wellbeing, alcohol consumption safety etc.
- Act as a liaison for any concerns related to outside of work either work or personally related, Providing advice, solutions, and support to PALM workers.
- Coordinate support within the local area around religious services, medical services, EAP and financial assistance
- Complete regular check-ins with PALM workers throughout their employment to ensure the new employees have settled in and do not have any concerns or issues surrounding work or their homelife.
- Acting as a communication conduit as required between PALM workers and the Residential Aged Care Team.
- Work closely with International Sourcing team to ensure PALM reporting of welfare is completed within PALM timeframes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build ongoing positive relationships.
- Experience within the community services sector highly regarded
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Ability to handle difficult or unexpected situations.
- Confident to work autonomously as well as be a collaborative team member.
- Be able to work flexible hours including weekends as required.
- Have their own vehicle to travel to Sunshine Coast and NNSW Bolton Clarke Homes on regular basis.
- Highly Desired: Cultural Experience with Pacific Island nations
