Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre have a vacancy for an Apprentice in Engineering - Mechanical Fitter with our host company based in Clayton.

Our host is a University workshop that provides assistance to internal departments of the University as well as working with commercial partners on a range of aerospace related projects, and scientific device manufacture.

With this apprenticeship opportunity, you are not only learning a trade but learning about a wide range of innovative projects, and engineering concepts that are at the cutting edge of technology.

You will learn and gain skills in a wide range of metal, electronics, and engineering design principles.

**Your duties include**:

- Examining and understanding detailed drawings and specifications to determine the requirements for the task
- Operate and adjust metalworking machines to create parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, shaping, slotting, grinding, or drilling metal stock or components
- Using hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and CNC machines
- Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Ensure accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies
- Operating lathes, machining centres, sheet metal folders, and benders
- Wide variety of welding practices including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding

**Desirable requirements**:

- Driver’s license and reliable transport
- Eagerness to learn new skills
- Positive approach to workplace safety
- Minimum Year 11 Schooling
