- Full timeThe role: Steel Detailer We see your role as one of the most critical roles for our business. This position is responsible for transforming blueprints and project requirements into actionable production plans. By deciphering architectural and engineering drawings, they create comprehensive schedules that guide the entire manufacturing process. This involves collaborating closely with Branch Managers, Operations teams, and Sales representatives to align project goals and workload priorities. Incorporating a blend of analytical thinking and creativity, Steel Detailer's analyse alternative methods and means to optimize production processes. They play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities for utilizing specialized products and materials that could enhance project outcomes. **Responsibilities include**:
**Scheduling**
- Interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to create manufacturable schedules foroperations.
- Liaise with Branch Managers and Operations for project planning and the prioritisation of the existingworkload
- Liaise with the Sales team and customers Estimator to establish scope of works
- Review tender documents including structural, civil, and architectural drawings, and specifications and prepare material takeoffs for quotation
- Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing
- Prepare instructions to tenderers, tender forms, and other tender solicitation information as required
- Prepare conceptual budgets based on mínimal information
- Identify opportunities for the supply of niche products
- Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, plans, site logistics and other material as prepared by Operations
- Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented
- Review constructability issues with operational staff
- Analyse alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative
- Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs
- Development, maintenance, and storage of historical estimating data
- Analysis and reporting of Departmental performance
- Identify potential stock issues to avoid possible project delays,
- Utilise the software provided to develop, store and maintain historical estimating data
**Workplace Health and Safety**
Take responsibilities on behalf of the organisation, but must also comply with requirements as workers, including:
- Ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures
- Maintain relevant knowledge of WHS issues
- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours
**To be considered for this role you will need**:
**Essential skills/experience**
- Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Good analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to identify and develop new processes
- Proven communication skills both internally and externally
- Solid time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy
**Desired skills/experience**
- Proficiency in PDF mark up and CAD software would be an advantage
