The integrated model of multidisciplinary care within Cancer Services relies on a dynamic, appropriately qualified, and skilled team to support patients undergoing care in both the Inpatient and Ambulatory settings, with a key focus on integrating Wellness and Supportive Care into standard care.
**About the role**
- This position delivers exercise physiology services to oncology outpatients by providing patient services (individual and group), consulting to staff, and supporting the work of the Wellness and Supportive Care program.
- A regular day will see you:
- Deliver independent and group-based evidence-informed exercise physiology services for individuals with cancer undergoing cancer treatment within onsite and home-based settings.
- Deliver comprehensive education and guidance to patients on managing their health conditions, actively engaging them and their caregivers in the decision-making process.
- Encourage patients to take an active role in their own care while making health education a key focus of every interaction.
- Receive and support referral and triage activities with support from senior exercise oncology team staff.
- Work apart of a multidisciplinary Exercise Oncology Team, including accredited exercise physiologists and physiotherapists and be open to supervision with more experienced staff.
**About you**
- As the Grade 1 Exercise Physiologist, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
- To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sports Science and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology
- Current accreditation with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
- A recent graduate or at least six months of work/clinical experience as an Accredited Exercise scientist or Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
- Interest in Oncology and/or exercise prescription for individuals with chronic disease.
- Interest in professional development and ongoing clinical supervision
- Team player and ability to work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health staff.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients & other health professionals.
- Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently and within an inter-professional team environment.
- Demonstrated high level of organisational and excellent time management skills.
