Filipino Speaking Disability Support Worker

**Position Overview**
This role focuses on assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring their safety, and fostering social inclusion and emotional well-being. The Support Worker will be responsible for cooking nutritious meals, providing personal care, and accompanying clients on outings. A professional appearance, strong communication skills, and a genuinely caring attitude are essential to creating a supportive and respectful environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Provide Personal Care Support**: Assist clients with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- **Meal Preparation**: Plan, cook, and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals according to clients’ dietary needs and preferences.
- **Promote Health and Safety**: Maintain a safe environment by identifying risks and ensuring appropriate measures are in place.
- **Support Social Inclusion**: Accompany clients on community outings, events, and appointments, helping them feel confident and included.
- **Encourage Independence**: Help clients achieve personal goals and develop daily life skills that foster autonomy and self-reliance.
- **Provide Emotional Support**: Build positive, trusting relationships with clients through empathy, active listening, and reassurance.
- **Respect Cultural Identity**: Deliver culturally sensitive care, particularly for Filipino clients, while also ensuring inclusivity for individuals of all gender and sexual identities.
- **Participate in Recreational Activities**: Engage clients in physical activities such as basketball and swimming, enhancing their physical and social well-being.
- **Maintain Professional Appearance**: Present yourself in a clean, professional manner that reflects respect and care for clients.
- **Transportation Support**: Provide or arrange safe transportation for clients to access appointments, events, and community services.
- **Document Client Progress**: Keep accurate and timely records of client behaviors, progress, and any significant changes, reporting to the appropriate personnel.
- **Work Collaboratively**: Communicate effectively with families, health professionals, and other team members to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care.
- **Uphold Client Rights**: Support and advocate for client autonomy, ensuring informed choices and access to necessary resources.
**Required Certifications and Checks**
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (if applicable)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Manual Handling Certification
- Hand Hygiene Certification
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance and registration
- 100 Points of ID Verification
