**The Role**

Mercy Community currently has a vacancy for a Trauma Informed Counsellor to join the Intensive Foster and Kinship Care team in Ipswich. This role is a Permanent Part-time position offering 4 days a week.

This position provides counselling and therapeutic services to clients aged between 3 - 18 years in family based out of home care and their carers. Additionally, you will be required to complete assessments, pre
- and post-evaluations and interventions within the Intensive Intervention Placement Support service. This position also liaises with a broad network of stakeholders who participate in or impact on the success of client plans, referrals and goals.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $39.26 - $42.25 plus superannuation. You will also have the opportunity to increase your take-home pay by salary sacrificing and other benefits.

**To be eligible for this position you will require**:

- Hold a 3 or 4 year tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Counselling, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing individualised and/or family therapeutic plans.
- Queensland Provisional Green (P2) or above Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
- Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided as per the relevant Mercy Community procedure.

**Core Competencies**
- Demonstrated ability to work with children and young people who have experienced trauma.
- The capacity to be client focused, build relationships with service users through trust, rapport, and effective communication when counselling children and young people and their carers.
- Demonstrated ability working with young people and carers from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding the stages of Child Development.
- Provide services in line with a Trauma Informed framework.
