**Key responsibilities

Lead the region's vision to make sustainability a key focus for its staff and projects. Collaborate with stakeholders to provide lasting sustainability legacies for the community.
Provide expert sustainability advice and services to support the region's sustainable infrastructure journey and drive the implementation of solutions for sustainable QTRIP project delivery. Identify policy and legislation issues, risks and challenges relating to sustainability.
Manage areas of improvement for the team and organisation, monitoring new and emerging trends in sustainability, climate and resilience legislation and policy that affects the infrastructure program delivery.
Manage the development and implementation of sustainability procedures and other regional policies, manuals, guidelines, reporting frameworks and standards and technical notes in line with TMR's Environment Sustainability Policy.
Provide advice and consult with stakeholders about sustainability requirements, sustainability rating systems and the facilitate the provision of sustainability services for the management of the regions infrastructure program.
Lead, mentor and coach stakeholders and project managers to implement, monitor and manage sustainable performance initiatives including carbon emission reduction.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions

Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence

Requirements of the role

Proactively builds long-term working relationships with partners and key stakeholders to promote departmental and operational goals and achieve successful outcomes for stakeholders.
Experience in collaborating and engaging business areas to embrace change.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) in a clear, succinct, and deliberate manner, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders. Supports others by providing timely Sustainability information and advice in an articulate and non-technical manner.
Desirable: Degree qualification from a tertiary institute in sustainability, climate science, environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental management, natural resource management or equivalent.
Desirable: Extensive experience in a related role is considered as necessary for success in this role
Desirable: Significant experience in sustainability and/or climate science.
Desirable: Experience in collaborating and engaging business areas to embrace change.
Desirable: Experience in the sustainability aspects in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of linear infrastructure.
