About the job

Our People Solutions team is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to manage the full end to end payroll delivery for over 4500 employees across multiple Australian States and Territories. We have a combination of fortnightly and monthly pay cycles within a diverse remuneration strategy, ranging from award or enterprise agreements, through to executive remuneration contracts, so experience with complex payroll systems and processes will be highly advantageous.

The role supervises the day-to-day payroll process and coordinates, plans and educates the Payroll Officers and other Payroll Specialists required to deliver on the payroll strategy and requires functional and technical knowledge of compensation and payroll systems along with the ability to lead and implement change.

This includes but is not limited to:
- Being responsible for the leadership, direction, development, training and planning of local and global resources, to seek the best cost and process delivery optimisation for payroll services.- Identifying opportunities to amalgamate and leverage available resources.- Developing and reviewing payroll processes, procedures and systems.- Ensuring alignment to strategies and business requirements.Ensuring that all statutory reporting and compliance activities relating to payroll delivery are completed within the payroll team accurately and on time, including;- Regular and ad-hoc government reporting, such as PAYG tax withholding, State Revenue and Superannuation submissions.- Supporting the reporting requirements for end of Financial/ FBT/ Tax year activities, including necessary reconciliation and reporting requirements.- Ensuring compliance with Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting requirements.- Providing operational guidance on responding to queries from employees, internal stakeholders or external agencies.

This role liaises with global management and is accountable to achieve global payroll targets and drive change associated with global initiatives as required.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Diploma of Payroll Management or similar, with Tertiary qualifications highly desirable.- Demonstrated experience leading a high-volume payroll processing team for a complex employer.- Experience in planning and implementing new systems and processed within a complex or large organisation.- Proven ability for analytical, and innovative thought and action, lateral thinking when analysing and identifying business solutions.- Current and up-to-date knowledge of the business and legislative frameworks in which they are required to operate (e.g. superannuation policy and legislation, employment related tax matters, industrial legislation and instruments, leave policies, business strategies, etc)- High business acumen and being able to communicate, negotiate and influence across a broad range of stakeholders to achieve the necessary outcomes for effective and efficient payroll delivery.- Confidence sharing knowledge and expertise and to understand when and how further professional advice is required to be sought.
