Therapy Assistant

Barwon Occupational Therapy have an exciting opportunity for a casual Therapy Assistant to join our enthusiastic team of Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Dietitian, and Therapy Assistants. We are looking for a student studying allied health who is passionate about disability and mental health to join our team.

Barwon Occupational Therapy (BOT) provides occupational therapy, positive behaviour support and therapy assistant services to children, youth and adults in the Greater Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surfcoast Shire, Colac Otway and Golden Plains Shire regions. We exist to help make a positive impact in the lives of our participants. We do this by working with the individual, and the important people in their life, to find workable, participant-focussed solutions that assist the individual to overcome barriers.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Provide therapeutic services to assist participants in achieving their individual goals.
- Be responsible for a designated caseload of participants and allocated operational duties.
- Liase with qualified clinicians to follow prescribed intervention plans.
- Support with the facilitation of therapeutic groups.
- Provide comprehensive and confidential administration tasks.
- Support with resource management and requisition.

**Essential characteristics**:

- Commitment and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and their rights.
- Highly developed oral, written and collaborative communication skills.
- Ability to provide empathise, non-judgmental client support.
- A positive work ethic and strong commitment to team practice.
- Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and effectively.
- Competence in operating a range of computer skills.
- Current driver's license.
