**The Organisation**

The Burdekin Association is a Specialist Homelessness Service, providing services to children and young people aged between 9 and 24 at intake. The Burdekin Association currently delivers its services through three key programs:

- Out of Home Care - Providing out of home care to children and young people in Burdekin properties/private rentals with the support of staff and carers
- Youth Housing - Providing housing options to young people at risk of homelessness, starting in semi-supported housing with the potential to transition to more independent living
- Family and Community - Working to prevent homelessness, family breakdown, out of home placements and reconciliation of family relationship.

The growing team are now seeking a full time Payroll Officer to work on a hybrid capacity within the Finance Team, in their Brookvale office.

**About the role**

Based in our head office in Brookvale, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for managing and processing a high volume of payroll of 200+ employees. Your primary goal will be to ensure accurate and timely payment of employee wages while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. You will handle payroll-related inquiries, maintain payroll records, and collaborate with various departments to address any concerns. Your attention to detail and knowledge of payroll processes will be essential in performing your duties effectively.

**Key Responsibilities**
- End to end preparation and processing fortnightly payroll including STP reporting
- Prepare and reconcile superannuation reporting and processing
- Process PAYG payments each pay
- Preparation and processing of termination pays
- Process Workcover payments & PPL payments
- Calculate and process higher duties variations & back pay where required
- New Starter setup / Terminations & maintaining employee records.
- Setup and ongoing management of Allowances / Deductions
- Management of employee leave requests ready for accurate payroll processing
- Follow up timesheets for processing, ensuring all employees contracted hours accounted for
- Analyse and report on payroll data and identify and resolve any system issues.
- Month End & Year End Reporting
- Support, direct and manage the ongoing development and maintenance of time management system and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide information and answer employee and manager questions about payroll related matters. Handle payroll queries promptly, professionally and confidentially
- Ensure payroll practices are compliant with company policy, industrial instruments, agreements and legislation.
- Maintaining data integrity and compliance to industrial instruments (e.g. MA000100 SCHADS Award). A full interpretation and understanding of the company’s current award.

**Essential requirements**
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a similar high-volume payroll role
- Sound numeracy skills, attention to detail and processing accuracy
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, laws, and regulations with experience with interpretation of awards and agreements in Australian work environment
- Proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets and other relevant software (Employment Hero/Keypay desirable but not essential)
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong organizational and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, identify and deal with internal issues
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Current Working with Children Check, police check or willingness to obtain either
