Maintenance Support Electrical Distribution

**Job description**:
The purpose of the post is to operate and maintain the Site HV and LV normal and standby electrical distribution systems. The successful job holder will be responsible for ensuring that switching operations, maintenance and routine testing are carried out efficiently, safely and to schedule.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify and rectify routine maintenance problems where applicable
- Carry out planned maintenance activities and defect rectification efficiently, includes defect investigation of causes and proposal of solutions whilst maintaining a focus on programme and resources
- Liaise with stakeholders to provide authoritative advice on matters relating to the 11kV electrical distribution system
- Utilise specialist diagnostic techniques and equipment to identify and rectify faults in plants, systems and components
- Identify obsolescence and end-of-life issues
- Assess the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and provide required amendments and changes
- Produce fit for purpose job reports describing accurately the work that has been carried out, recommendations, solutions, PMI amendment details, conditions assessments, etc
- Mentor apprenticeship development and may be an SVQ Assessor
- Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers on technical issues
- Conduct safe and effective handover of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the control of the plant and equipment within the work area isolation boundary
- Carry out HV and LV switching operations in accordance with pre-pared switching programmes
- Be appointed and carry out duties of an Authorised Person Electrical Level 2 or 3
- Perform the responsibilities of Management Appointments relevant to the post
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Good general safety awareness
- Knowledge and understanding of work control process and safe systems of work
- Appointment as a Nominated Person (Electrical) or as an Authorised Person (Electrical) Level 1
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organise/co-ordinate staff/contract resources
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A positive approach, self-motivated, assertive and ability to use initiative
- Electrical and instrument technician's will be required to pass a colour vision assessment

- Electrical apprenticeship plus HNC in engineering or equivalent qualification plus experience
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification
