One of our government clients is seeking a GIS Officer to join their Data management and mapping team.

**Responsibilities**
- Performs data capture, maintenance, analysis, extraction and compilation to ensure the timely delivery of a range of geospatial data and mapping products and services.
- Creates edits and maintains geographic and textual information within a GIS environment, Operates geographic information systems software, image processing software, spatial data extraction software and related mapping systems.
- Provides an advisory service to other staff regarding mapping queries, issues and specific project needs, and provides support with the training of staff in the use and operation of the mapping, data processing and geospatial web map environments.
- Contributes to skill sharing and development of processes and standards, prepares ad-hoc reports, data and maps as required.

**Skills Required**:

- Proven experience in the use of mapping (for example ESRI ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS, etc) and database software products.
- Solid understanding of geospatial data capture, processing, manipulation and map production.
- Good interpersonal skills and capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
- Sound written and verbal communications skills including the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and the ability to convey ideas and concepts to individuals and groups.
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills in developing and performing methods of spatial analysis.
- Ability to use initiative and plan and prioritise work and meet targets
