**Job Description**:
As a member of the team, you will assist management in maintaining SGS’s capability to analyse soil, water and air in the Inorganic section. In particular to conduct routine and non-routine analyses and to deliver quality and timely laboratory results. Some of the main responsibilities will be:

- With mínimal supervision and a degree of independence, initiative and judgment, undertake routine preparation and analysis of soils, waters and air samples using wet chemistry and basic instrumentation techniques in the inorganic section.
- Understand and comply to general laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements.
- Ensure you maintain housekeeping to highest standard with equipment and laboratory kept clean to avoid contamination, protect the company’s assets and adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Carry out scheduled equipment and basic instrument calibration and maintenance in accordance with the written procedures.
- Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on the job training to support improvement.
- Ensure that PPE and safety equipment is used where necessary, used correctly and used at all times as per the section requirements.
- Report immediately any unsafe work condition, faulty equipment, hazards and incidents to the supervisor and/or manager.
- Perform other duties as directed by the section supervisor.

**Qualifications**:

- Appropriate tertiary qualification, TAFE certificates minimum
- Experience in a general laboratory environment preferred
- Flexibility with working hours and tasks
