Production Isolation Officer

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are looking for an experienced** Production Isolation Officer **to join the Processing team based at the Karara mine site. The Production Isolation Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and upkeep of the site-wide Permit to Work system. This includes the daily planning, implementation and monitoring of permits and isolations, as well as preparing permits for upcoming work and shutdowns. It is critical there is also a timely response to breakdown tasks to ensure equipment is back online at the earliest available time.

This position operates on an **8 days on and 6 days off / 7 nights on and 7 nights off **roster.

**Key responsibilities;**
- Work with process operators to ensure that equipment is taken offline in a controlled manner for repairs (where possible) in order to avoid uncontrolled discharge of process material from bunded areas
- Ensure maintenance work groups have left the area in a suitable state of housekeeping prior to closing the permit
- Respond to breakdown jobs in a timely fashion to ensure equipment is back on line as soon as possible after maintenance
- Ensure weekly handovers between Permit Officers are effective and the scope and timeframe for all open permits is communicated
- Maintain correct completion and filing of all permit-related paperwork, in the event of incident investigations or auditing
- Review daily and weekly production schedules to establish priorities, interactions and isolation requirements within the Processing area.
- Attend shutdown planning meetings and prepare shutdown permits and isolations in advance to ensure efficient shutdown execution
- Represent operations at maintenance planning meetings and thus assist in the implementation of planned maintenance programs and breakdown responses
- Ensure group isolation lists are developed and reviewed regularly to allow efficient creation of permits for maintenance tasks that are conducted on a routine/semi-regular basis
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in all aspects of the Permit to Work system, both procedural and practical
- Ensure all permit to work logs are up to date and accurate in a timely manner
- Effective communication and handovers to departmental and interdepartmental personnel

**Essential requirements and experience;**
- ‘C’ Class WA Drivers’ License
- Previous experience as a Permit Officer, Isolation Officer or similar
- Proven experience in mineral processing including crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, and filtering plants
- Demonstrated experience with Permit to Work and Isolation/Tagging systems and applicable legislation
- National Police Clearance
- Permanent work rights in Australia

**Desirable**
- Exposure to magnetic separation and magnetite processing
- Experience developing and/or implementing
- Permit to Work and Isolation/Tagging systems
- Previously worked with electronic permitting systems
