As the Youth Skills Coach you will provide coaching and support to young people who are at risk of offending or engaged with the Youth Justice system, to achieve a successful training outcome leading to further education and employment.
The Sticking Together Project has developed, in partnership with young people, an evidenced based coaching model that supports them to identify their barriers to employment, get a job and ‘stick at it’. This position is primarily a mobile role, working across **Logan, Queensland **area
**This is a 12 month full-time fixed-term contract role with the potential for extension.**
In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and result driven team who are dedicated to our vision of wellbeing, independence and opportunity for everyone. Day to day activities will include:
- Support young people with their employment and help them maintain their job if things get tough by building and developing great relationships with their employers.
- Work intensively with the Sticking Together Project’s Practice lead to ensure that the Sticking Together Project coaching model is implemented effectively.
- Work with employers to promote the benefits of hiring young people in the Youth Justice system
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders, in particular jobactive providers, to ensure continuous referrals to the Sticking Together Project.
**About You**
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and liaison skills
- Proven experience in effectively engaging and working with young people with an offender background in a coaching/development role
- Experience in successfully delivering both individual and targeted group programs for young people
- The ability to negotiate on behalf of young people with stakeholders, including employers and service providers.
- Proven experience working in partnerships with other support services
- Time management and organisational skills, able to plan, priorities and achieve outcomes with mínimal supervision and/or direction and to successfully meet deadlines and KPI's
- A tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to disability, community services, youth work, employment services, training, or social services (desirable)
**For this role, you will need to**:
- Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Be willing to travel intrastate
- Must have a current and valid driver’s licence and your own registered vehicle with a 4-5 star ANCAP safety rating.
- Be eligible to work in Australia
