Our Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services (CWMHS) team plays a vital role in protecting vulnerable children and young people across NSW. We are excited to announce openings for multiple committed and compassionate **Assistant Assessment Officers** to join the **Child Wellbeing Unit (CWU)** - a specialist, high-performing service providing expert guidance to mandatory reporters on child protection concerns within our Teaching, Learning & Student Wellbeing division.
- Location: Parramatta with access to flexible working arrangements available
- Salary: Clerk Grade 5/6 with base salary ranging from $97,027 to $107,059 per annum, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
- Temporary full-time opportunity up to 30 June 2028, with possibility of extension

**Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services**

The Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services (CWMHS) unit focuses on the delivery of student support services including support for student in the areas of child protection, disability, mental health and wellbeing and complex needs.

The key outcomes of the CWMHS team are closer alignment and coordination of psychological and child protection services delivered to schools; improved responses to emerging and urgent needs with local solutions, developed in collaboration with local wellbeing teams; and identification and understanding of best practice approaches to services delivery.

**About the role**

The Assistant Assessment Officer provides key support to enable timely assessments, advice and referrals concerning contacts made to the Child Wellbeing Unit (CWU) by NSW Department of Education mandatory reporters regarding child protection concerns for students.

**Key knowledge and experience**:

- Knowledge of the NSW child protection system and mandatory reporting requirements and/or experience working in a child protection related field.
- Ability to touch type and record information accurately in a timely manner.
- Willingness to engage in learning and professional development opportunities.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements**:

- Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one)
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
