Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking to appoint a compassionate and experienced **School Counsellor/Psychologist**, supporting students from Years 5-8. This role provides short-term, evidence-based counselling and support, conducts risk assessments, and collaborates closely with families, staff, and external clinicians to ensure continuity of care.
With an established wellbeing team for every year level, we focus on the holistic importance of the social, emotional, physical and academic wellbeing of our Grammarians. We understand that when our students feel well and in control of the many aspects of their lives, they are able to confront obstacles. The Middle Years School Counsellor is part of this wellbeing team.
**Key Selection Criteria include but are not limited to**:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Psychology or Counselling as well as Registration with the appropriate governing body (e.g., AHPRA for psychologists or relevant counselling body).
- Demonstrated Experience in Counselling and Mental Health Support.
- Strong experience in case management, including planning interventions and liaising with families, teaching staff, health professionals, and external agencies.
- Knowledge of Child and Adolescent Development and Diversity with a sound understanding of developmental, social, and emotional issues affecting school-aged children and/or young people.
- Competence in administering and interpreting diagnostic and routine assessments to support individual learning needs.
- Proven ability to contribute to the design and delivery of wellbeing programs and evidence-based preventative initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, documentation of case notes, and sharing of assessment outcomes.
- Proficient in maintaining confidential records in accordance with legal and ethical standards (e.g., AHPRA requirements).
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and participation in professional networks.
This position is located in the Merton Hall Senior School Campus at 86 Anderson Street in South Yarra. The role is full time and the salary is as per Schedule 2B - School Assistant with School Holidays of the MGGS Enterprise Agreement 2023.
