**About the company**
This prestigious education authority has a requirement for a Safety and Compliance Officer. Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Manager & Chief of Operations Officer, this role will see you supporting the manager to carry out, maintain and monitor the schools occupational health and safety program and the wider range of risk and compliance obligations.
This is a hands-on role where you can grow and develop your OHS experience. This is an exciting role for someone who demonstrates initiative and is keen to develop their skills in OHS. You will be working closely with the Risk & Compliance Manager who is an expert in the field & will provide you with advice and guidance.
**Your key responsibilities include**:
- Support the Risk and Compliance Manager in the leadership of a whole-school culture of risk awareness, health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Ensure the OHS, risk and compliance frameworks are carried out consistently across all teams, stakeholder groups and campuses.
- Assist the Risk and Compliance Manager in the review, monitor and design/re-design of relevant policies, procedures, systems and processes to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and other related legislation.
- Review current work processes across all teams and departments and prepare or improve safe work procedures.
- Maintain a strong relationship with the Facilities team, and work closely with them to ensure the physical environment and facilities are safe and compliant.
- Record and collate incident reports, responding and following them up to ensure they are detailed, accurate and eventually resolved.
- Attend all OHS Committee meetings.
- Work with the Human Resources Team to ensure employee Return To Work (RTW) plans are being carried out effectively and according to best practice
**You will have the following**:
- Tertiary qualification(s) in OHS or similar.
- Excellent knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and best practice.
- A sound understanding of the education sector, and the risks and hazards associated with school settings.
- High level literacy and numeracy skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret complex data and produce reports.
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Previous experience using CompliSpace Assurance or similar software is favourable.
