**Position Information**:
Mittagong Public School (enrolment 526, with 10% identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) is a dynamic learning environment with a focus on quality teaching and learning, a full and balanced curriculum and great care for the well-being of children. Our students are placed in 20 mainstream classes, and 3 support classes. Our teaching staff are dedicated professionals who are committed to collaborating in teams, providing quality experiences, and continually seeking to implement best practice. **Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex learning needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities with diverse behavioural and emotional needs, K-6.
- Emotionally intelligent leader with proven ability to collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals, to design and implement personalised learning and support plans that are reflective of maximising student outcomes.
- Highly effective communication and strong organisational skills to effectively manage the dual role of Assistant Principal and exemplary special education teacher.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
