This is a TO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the TO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the TO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of TO2 to TO3 classification range.

About the Role
Science Technician provides assistance and support to the Science faculty staff. A suitable, self-motivated applicant must be able to partake in the following duties (tasks are not strictly limited to the below):

- Liaison with teaching and non-teaching staff
- Handling laboratory chemicals
- Laboratory management, set-up of practical lessons and support in classes
- Maintaining and storage of scientific equipment and chemicals
- Field trip preparation and teacher support
- Administrative duties

It would also be highly advantageous to have experience with the following:

- Chemical Storage including Safety Data Sheets
- Previous laboratory experience
- Interest in STEM
- Knowledge of Practical investigations within the 2019 Qld Senior Science Syllabi

**A mandatory requirement of this role is**:

- TO2 appointees must have possession of a diploma qualification relevant to the tasks outlined, from a recognised tertiary institution or qualification which, in the opinion of the Director-General, Department of Education or delegate is acceptable.
- In accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 a person is prohibited from working in regulated child-related employment unless the person holds a current Working with Children Check clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
