The department of Spiritual -pastoral care services sits within the Allied Health directorate within Eastern Health and operates across three acute campuses, a subacute rehab, a palliative and an aged care residential campus.

The role

This role is about helping people to connect with what it is that gives them life, meaning and purpose. Assisting inpatients to connect with what drives their spirit and provides their inner self to flourish and be their best selves. The role represents an opportunity to make it your own. Each time you arrive at work for a shift it will be very busy, different and with plenty of variety. To be successful in this role you need to be self motivated and have experience and qualifications in Spiritual
- Pastoral care. The core component of this role is to be with those patients and/or primary carers or staff who need a compassionate active listening person to assist them in whatever it is they need at that point in time. (Within the spiritual-pastoral context). Individual Spiritual-Pastoral care and emotional well being counselling is a significant component of your work.

You will have highly developed organisational and computer skills and a confident ability to lead ceremonies, memorials, meditation, prayer and rituals as requested and or required.

Working within interdisciplinary health care teams whilst also a sole individual practitioner at your allocated site, can and will be challenging. However, you are supported by a larger organisational wide Eastern Health Spiritual care team of which you are a respected member. Education and daily promotion of the Spiritual -pastoral care service and what can be provided to support patients and health care workers is a major part of your role. Governance, administration and proactively contributing in all meetings is what keeps our patients safe and provides them with better outcomes, this activity will consume some of your time.

About you

**To be successful in this role you should possess**:
Key selection criteria attached

Qualifications in Spiritual/Pastoral care - 2 units of CPE and/or equivalent (negotiable)

Minimum requirement a Bachelor Degree in either Theology or a behavioural science degree is negotiable, pending personal theology formation

Demonstrated eligibility to join Spiritual Care Australia or a current member

Capacity to be with people who are dying and their grieving families / careers

Capacity to articulate your emotional intelligence

Capacity to articulate your theology

Highly developed rapport and excellent relationship building capacity and maintenance

Confidence in leading ceremonies / memorials and meditation sessions as required

The ability to work as part of a diverse interdisciplinary health care team and also autonomously

Excellent communication, excellent organisational and excellent computer literacy and skills

Capacity to be flexible and adaptable at all times, whilst understanding and operating within boundaries and restrictions often ambiguous and with competing priorities

Understanding of a healthy work-life balance and personal well being strategies are in place to manage self and maintain resilience.

A Victorian driver’s licence and own vehicle
