The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP) employs more than 4,800 staff in 91 locations across the state and brings together Victoria's climate change, biodiversity protection, resource recovery, water, energy, land management, planning and forest and fire management functions into a single department.
VicGrid is a division in DELWP's Energy Group that co-ordinates the planning and development of Victoria's Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), including overseeing investments to strengthen the transmission grid and unlock the potential of REZs. VicGrid is facilitating major transmission network upgrades in Victoria and implementing transmission planning reforms through the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework, which includes the development and delivery of transmission infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the VicGrid Director of Project Delivery, the Project Controls and Interface Lead is responsible for developing and implementing project controls and collaborating with technical advisors to ensure scheduling, risk management, and workplace health and safety are appropriately managed for each transmission project. This role will also establish and manage key relationships in the energy ecosystem to ensure that projects can be developed effectively and connected to the National Electricity Market (NEM). This includes managing relationships with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), and internal stakeholders across DELWP.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in program planning, scheduling, workplace health and safety, risk, interface, and stakeholder management for complex major infrastructure projects and/or programs of work. An understanding of the government authorising and decision-making environment in relation to major infrastructure projects would be desirable, along with tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as engineering, commerce, or management.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Demonstrated sound experience in managing interface relationships and multiple stakeholders for major complex infrastructure projects or works programs within the energy or other sectors is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, scheduling, workplace health and safety or risk management in regard to major infrastructure projects is essential.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in a relevant field (such as engineering, commerce or management) is desirable.
- An understanding of government authorising environment and decision making in relation to major infrastructure projects is desirable.
- An understanding of Victoria's renewable energy landscape is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 2.5 years.
