About the Role
If you currently live and work abroad as a property valuer and a change of scenery while working in your profession appeals, we’d love to help you make the transition to working in Australia.
As a Property Valuer at Acumentis you will have a varied role. Every day will be different offering you the opportunity to meet new people and clients and grow your expertise.
Our valuation team are responsible for assessing the value of residential, commercial, and rural and agribusiness properties. Team members at Acumentis also value properties for government tax purposes, valuing entire neighbourhoods or land areas at once using specific technology. Property Valuers play an integral role in the property industry and work independently of real estate agencies.
The services offered by property valuers at Acumentis are used by banks, financiers, accountants, solicitors, governments, corporates and sellers and prospective buyers of property.
Roles & responsibilities of a property valuer
- Estimate property or land values for sale, rental, taxation, and legal purposes.
- Estimate the value of land and the buildings on the land before it is redeveloped.
- Estimate the value of property with a going concern business.
- Estimate the cost of rebuilding for insurance purposes.

How does a property valuer conduct a valuation?
To produce a valuation report for a client, the property valuer must start by;
- Conducting an inspection on the property whose value must be determined
- Gather measurements of the property, asses features and characteristics of the property and do a thorough study of the locality and use of the property
- Collect and analyse the recent sales comparison data
- Use appropriate tools and methodologies to incorporate all the collected data and calculations and prepare a valuation report

What are the key soft skills required to become a property valuer?
**A property valuer must possess**:

- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Sound judgement ability
- The capacity to keep results confidential
- The ability to provide accurate valuation of properties
- The qualities of honesty, punctuality and high levels of professionalism

It is a condition of employment that staff is to have a National Police Clearance (paid for by the business).

There are a range of countries where practicing property valuers / Chartered Valuation Surveyors can come and practice in Australia if they are a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and have an MRICS registration.
Visa regulations, entry criteria and various Australian registration requirements need to be met before you can practice property valuation in Australia.
