- Operating Services at University Geelong Main theatre offers a round-the-clock service with ten operating theatres. Beyond elective surgeries, the department handles semi-urgent and emergency procedures. Specialities encompass Cardiothoracic, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Oral Faciomaxillary, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Vascular and Robotic Surgery.- Youang Surgery Centre (YSC)***
- The Youang Surgical Centre, an integral addition to the Operating Services Department at Barwon Health, operates from Monday to Friday. Equipped with four state of the art theatres, the centre provides comprehensive services in general surgery, urology, maxillofacial, ENT, gynaecology, and plastics- Gretta Volum Centre (GVC)***
- The Gretta Volum Centre, functioning on weekdays as a day surgery unit, specialises in a diverse range of surgical and diagnostic procedures. With two theatres and an endoscopy room, the centre covers paediatric surgery, ophthalmology- About the role- An exciting opportunity to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Perianaesthesia Nursing in affiliation with Deakin University. The successful applicants will have previous operating theatre experience, excellent communication skills and a motivation to continued professional development.- This opportunity allows Registered Nurses to be responsible for the provision of consumer focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to them, in order to achieve desired clinical outcomes while gaining imperative experience and skill.- Successful applicants will be supported with our well-established structured program. Graduates will develop the advanced clinical skills and knowledge required to care for complex patients. Applicants will work autonomously whilst being part of a supportive team across our operating services- The Program-
- Gain invaluable experience in perioperative nursing and build your career- 12 months: 68 hrs per fortnight, temporary part time (commencing 2025)
- In Collaboration with Deakin University
- Competencies and hurdles assessed onsite by Clinical Educator. Shift support offered through Clinical Support Nurses
- Rotations through operating services, including main theatre and day surgery
