**About your role**
As the
**Site Purchasing Officer**, you will be responsible the purchasing of site related Goods and Services (raw materials, components, equipment, and services), as well as purchasing requisition instructions, sourcing and coordinating suitable suppliers to meet business goals. This role supports our Newcastle Operations & Hunter Valley Maintenance sites.
Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Receive and respond to operations/internal customer purchasing requests, ensuring all authorisation processes have been followed and contracts/production agreements have been signed prior to commencement
- Facilitate the timely payment of Supplier Invoices for goods and services using the UGL Vendor Invoice Management System (VIMS)
- Undertake negotiations with selected providers, establish agreed prices, availability, customisation possibilities, delivery schedules, warranties, payment terms and claims terms.
- Expedite orders with suppliers and raise all necessary transaction in the procurement system and documentation
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a similar Purchasing support role within rail, automotive, military, defence, avionics or any other safety critical environment.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
- Advanced knowledge of procurement and inventory control methods and practices
- Experienced in contract negotiation and administration
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships
