Canteen Assistant

Bally Boys Canteen is a P&C managed School Canteen. We provide nutritious, freshly made meals & snacks in a dynamic educational environment.

We are an inclusive, friendly and welcoming canteen team seeking an energetic and enthusiastic canteen assistant with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, who is honest, hardworking and as dedicated to serving our School Community as we are

Shifts Available -**Monday 7:30am-2:30pm & Thursday shifts 7:30am - 2:30pm.**

With a willingness to cover shifts when necessary. This role is during School Term Only.

**Personal Attributes**

Able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment and be flexible with working hours when required.

Adaptability - Able to deal with the dynamic environment of a very busy School Canteen.

Sound written and verbal communication skills, with a warm, welcoming, and professional manner

Able to follow directives from the Canteen Manager.

General understanding of food safety procedures and requirements

Attention to Detail - Takes pride in ensuring a clean and safe kitchen

Enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment.

**Qualifications**

Must have a valid Working with Children Check

Must have completed or a willingness to complete the online basic food handling course.

**Key Responsibilities**

Assist with preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals and snacks.

Assist with Counter Service during Recess/Lunch Breaks

Maintain safe food handling and hygiene practices, including correct storage and labelling of food & appropriate Temperature checks of hot and cold foods.

Assist with dishwashing and general cleaning of the kitchen and canteen equipment, ensuring all items are cleaned and sanitized after use.

Assist with unpacking food deliveries, rotating/replenishing stock and reporting any shortages or issues to the Canteen Manager.

**Skills & Experience**

Previous experience working in a school canteen or similar kitchen role is desirable but not essential.

Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices

Physically able to stand for long periods and carry out manual tasks

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $33.96 per hour

Expected hours: 14 per week
