**Position Information**:
Tirriwirri School caters for 34 students with moderate to severe intellectual, as well as physical disabilities and autism. Classes range from kindergarten to Year 12, and each is staffed by a Teacher and a School Learning Support Officer. The school has a strong commitment to offering all students the same educational opportunities that all students can access. Our school is committed to supporting young people with disabilities to maximise their potential and participate in our community as equal citizens. Our inclusively designed learning environments facilitate innovative, high-quality teaching and learning practices, and provide the best possible educational opportunities to all students. We currently have 6 classes K-12, with the possibility of a 7th class as we grow. We have a Mini Woolies, Nursery and agriculture program, providing high quality engaging curriculum in KLAs and Career Planning. We value student voice as effective communication partners with our students and build partnerships with students, families, and stakeholders in the team around the student.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with complex learning needs.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead educational transformation and foster a positive school culture, emphasising equity, excellence, collaboration and high expectations to empower individuals as future-focused global citizens.
- Leadership and experience in dealing with complex challenging behaviours and demonstrated ability to support and lead staff to plan for impactful strategies that lead to transforming lives.
- Capacity to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and to lead initiatives that address the whole school strategic direction and nurture positive, quality relationships across the school community.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
