Peer Community Support Worker - Chatswood

For more than Fifty years, we've been supporting people with disability and mental health concerns; and those who are aged, people at risk of homelessness, humanitarian entrants, youth, and Indigenous Australians

It’s all part of our goal to provide innovative services which support individuals, strengthen communities and enhance social and emotional wellbeing for all.

We have a part-time role available, based in Chatswood, working across
**Chatswood & Narraweena**.

Working days are Monday to Friday on a rotating roster.

**Your key**
**responsibilities will be to**:
Utilise own lived experience of mental health systems and personal recovery journey in a purposeful and intentional manner

Collaborating with customers to develop individualised support plans that incorporate their identified wellbeing needs and goals

Keeping customer records up to date daily using on line systems

Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including family/supports of consumers, service partners and government agencies;
Contribute to the effective functioning and development of HASI Plus through involvement in projects, contribution to team forums and training and development;
**What you need to have**:
Tertiary qualifications, minimum Certificate IV in Peer Work or Mental Health or a willingness to work towards;
Minimum of 6 months experience working in the mental health sector.

Personal experience of overcoming mental health adversity and ability to use this to positively support others on their recovery journey;
Skills in liaising, negotiating and advocating for the people we work with;
Demonstrated understanding of the consumer movement and able to effectively challenge assumptions and promote recovery oriented principles;
Developed facilitation and coaching skills to support groups for individuals, staff and families;
A valid NSW driver’s license.
