Can you provide direction and support to a dedicated Line Layout Design team within Powerlink Queensland?

**About the role**:
The Team Leader Transmission Line Layout Design provides line design services for Powerlink through both internal and external design resources and in accordance with Powerlink policies, procedures and requirements.

The role requires the direct management and supervision of the layout design team and related drafting activities and processes for all allocated design tasks.

Key accountabilities:

- Proving direction to and developing professional design staff who provide support services to large infrastructure projects, preferably in electricity transmission.
- Providing expert relevant primary systems design services through the utilisation of internal and outsourced resources.
- Monitoring and ensuring consistent implementation of relevant Primary Systems design standards, for both internal and outsourced designs.
- Working within a complex technical environment and undertake complex problem solving to ensure optimal design outcomes are achieved for Powerlink.
- Resource planning, work allocation and coordination for both internal and outsourced resources.
- Building team capability and continue to develop their knowledge and skills to meet Powerlink's Primary Systems design standards.
- Follow and role-model key people management processes (recruitment, performance management, safety, etc) to effectively manage team member performance

**About you**:
To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated people management skills and relevant knowledge and experience in Electrical Line Layout Design. You will also hold a Degree level qualifications in Engineering, or Associate Diploma in Engineering plus relevant significant experience.

The following knowledge and understanding are requested for the role:

- Transmission Line layout design principles and associated survey technology/science
- Transmission lines and associated fittings, lattice and pole structures, conductors, insulators, line hardware & fittings, substation landing beams, earthworks and foundations relating to structures, flood plain influences on lines etc.
- Optimum route and corridor selection, easement acquisition and enquiries.
- Design loads, structure duties, structure foundations, site benching, electrical safety clearances, lightning shielding design, AutoCAD drafting software (2D & 3D), PLS-Cadd and related PLS software, terrestrial and engineering survey associated with aerial laser, RTK, differential etc.
- Associated design standards, specifications and policies
- Transmission line construction and maintenance practices
- Proven capability and experience with effective leadership of a technical team
