Your key responsibilitiesClinical / TechnicalProvide a range of individual patient interventions as delegated by the AHP and work under the direction of AHPs. The AHP determines tasks the AHA is competent to perform. Prepare and /or implement individual or group treatment programs for patients under the supervision and direction of the therapists and report on patient performance as required. Assist with the personal care, manual handling and transport of patients.Duty restrictions:In areas of patient contact, the Allied Health assistant may only act under the direct instruction of an Allied Health Professional The Allied Health Assistant may not: interpret referrals, diagnose, plan or modify treatment programs, make clinical assessments or judgements. They can recognise a change in patient function and status and the possible impacts on the planned program.Collaboration, Teamwork & Consumer EngagementActively contribute to the interprofessional team though team meetings, case conferences and other team projects/activities Provide feedback following treatment sessions to the treating AHP regarding patient function and status, program implementation and progress. Communicate with patients and carers effectively, with cultural sensitivity and confidentially. Develop a clear understanding of the role and the roles of those in other professions and use this knowledge to work collaboratively with the interprofessional team.Individual and Work Unit ManagementEnsure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. Support person centred care approaches inclusive of patients' psychological, social, emotional, spiritual and physical care needs.LeadershipCommit to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by actively participating in safety and quality practices. Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, gender, identity, ages or abilities. Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.Service ImprovementReport any adverse circumstances with respect to facilities, equipment and people safety and implement remedial action as directed. Participate in quality activities on request, and under the direction of the AHP supervisor.Mandatory qualifications, professional registration, and other requirementsAppointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties. While not mandatory, a Certificate IV - Allied Health Assistant would be well regarded. Evidence of any qualifications must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties. Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) varicella (chicken pox) pertussis (whooping cough) hepatitis B Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
