**About the Role**
The Research Associate will contribute to the research efforts of the Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit and will be responsible for academic and industry focused research in the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry group in the Unit. This project is funded by a grant from the SA government to support the expansion of services of the Bioplatforms Australia facility financed by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) scheme.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Actively engage with researchers and industry partners outside the Academic Unit (internationally, nationally and across the University) to contribute to new research directions and/or outcomes
- Experience in analysis of complex proteomes via tryptic peptides by MALDI-TOF-MS and LC-ESI- MS/MS mass spectrometry as well as in the analysis of the produced data
- Expand on the MALDI-TOF MS expertise to ensure the University remains cutting-edge in the field of Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI)
- Develop methods using amino acid compositional analysis, glycan analysis, HPLC based assays, mass spectrometry LC-MS and LC-MS/MS using QTOF mass spectrometry and QQQ mass spectrometry as well as GC-MS and GC-ECD analysis
**Essential Skills and Experience**
- A Bachelor and Postgraduate qualification in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
- Demonstrated laboratory experience in separation sciences, protein biochemistry, metabolomics, proteomics or environmental analysis with an emphasis on instrumental analysis, particularly in mass spectrometry would be an advantage
- Familiarity with analysis and software for controlling analytical instruments, particularly LC-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, QTOF MS, QQQ MS, and MALDI TOF MS instrumentation
- Experience in Plasma Proteomics
- A record of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations commensurate with opportunity
