The Principal Planning Engineer (Open Pit) will unlock the value of Evolution Mining’s portfolio through consolidated strategic planning of our Open Pit assets and the delivery of the Life of Mine Plan for CGO and MGO within the Long Term Planning fuction.
About the role
This role is responsible for identifying opportunities for value accretion across the business, supporting the development of ongoing and new projects and providing guidance on current Evolution and global best practice and innovation in Open Pit Mine Planning.
Identify site strategic scenarios and deliver optimised mine designs and schedules to enable selection of a preferred pathway for the Evolution Mining Life of Mine plan
Enage with corporate and site stakeholders to collate and integrate sound inputs into the possible scenarios
Contribute to the identification of risks and opportunities, including critical action development.
Participate in person, during LOM-Season workshop at the technical hub.
Assist the Study team in delivery of the Mine Extension Studies.
Collaborate with site teams to align tactical objective with strategic plan
About you
To succeed in this position, you will have proven experience in long term mine planning or studies. It is also important that you have or can demonstrate:
Capability in influencing and developing Open Cut Technical Services Management practices and supporting the professional and technical growth of the mining engineering teams.
Effectively communicate complex process ideas at all levels with an ability to build relationships across functions and operations from Operator to Board level.
Proven experience at a comparable level within an organisation in either a Group (or significant Site based operation) where you held accountability, delivering operational efficiency, driving accurate and reliable interpretations/decisions, and implementing best practice in both technical and operational areas.
Software capability to derive and deleiver an optimised strategic open pit mine plan and schedule (Deswik, Minemax and Whittle exposure advantageous)
Bachelor or Masters qualification in mining engineering or related discipline
Significant open pit experience in the Mining Industry - preferrable Gold.
