**About the opportunity**
NSW Health Pathology are currently looking for passionate and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Prince of Wales Hospital.

This impactful, temporary full-time position is based out of the Neisseria Reference Laboratory - part of the Microbiology Department at SEALS Randwick. The department is proudly designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for STDs and funded by both the World Health Organization and the Commonwealth Department of Health.

In this role, you’ll contribute directly to the global fight against gonorrhoea by developing cutting-edge methods for isolating, identifying, and typing pathogenic Neisseria, including antibiotic susceptibility testing. You’ll also play a key role in supporting quality assurance and control programs across Australia and the Western Pacific & Southeast Asia Regions as part of the WHO Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme (GASP) and the National Neisseria Network (NNN).

**What you'll be doing**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
