**About the Role**:

- Responsible for the day to day supervision of staff and tasks within the Transport and Infrastructure (Operations) Reactive Maintenance Department. This includes assisting with Performance Management processes in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
- Provide operational assistance to the Supervisor Reactive Maintenance to facilitate the implementation of Council’s Asset Management Policy.
- Assist in providing the necessary information to ensure all customer enquiries are responded to in accordance with Council’s Customer Service Charter.
- Assist Supervisor Reactive Maintenance in managing contractors, materials (sundries, stock and PPE), plant maintenance and fleet liaison for maintenance and repair of reactive maintenance plant and equipment.
- Ensure all Transportation & Infrastructure (Operations) Maintenance activities are completed in accordance with Council’s Work, Health and Safety and Quality Assurance Policies.
- Communicated with the Manager and Supervisor Reactive Maintenance on initiatives that would create efficiencies and assist in improving outcomes for all maintenance activities across the region.
- Promote strategic information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
- Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills.
- Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and hold one’s self accountable.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role you will have:

- Demonstrated experience in supervising small teams and site management including completion of risk assessments and accurate completion of all site related documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor staff in the completion of plant prestart protocol and the monitoring of staff use of plant and equipment within manufacturers specifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to communicate effectively in person and with a variety of platforms and software.
- Demonstrated ability to self organise and in organising a schedule for a team and subcontractors.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of operations in relation to road construction and maintenance activities, particularly: Roads, Road verges, Storm water drainage, Footpaths and carparks, Culverts, Road pavement sealing and patching.
- Traffic Control certifications (or willingness to obtain) Traffic Controller, Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plans, Prepare Work Zone.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Current HR driver’s license or willingness to obtain.

Desirable criteria:

- Additional relevant Tertiary Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience within the roads industry
- The ability to carry out minor plant maintenance tasks
- Computer literacy or the willingness to learn computer skills
- Certificate 3 qualification or above, in Local Government Operations or a related discipline with demonstrated contemporary experience in a similar
