Hunter New England Local Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced medical professional to join our team as a Staff Specialist in Voluntary Assisted Dying.

Applicants must hold current NSW Health Voluntary Assisted Dying Practitioner Authorisation, be willing to work two consecutive days per week, and be prepared to travel across the district, including occasional overnight stays.

Become part of a compassionate team dedicated to delivering respectful, dignified end-of-life care across one of NSW’s most diverse health regions.

**Essential requirements**
- A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and fellowship
- Hold current NSW Health Voluntary Assisted Dying Practitioner Authorisation
- Current driver’s license with willingness to travel throughout all of HNELHD with occasional overnight stays
- Willingness to work two consecutive days per week

**Key accountabilities of the role**
- Undertake a planned, disciplined approach to consistently delivering the best possible experience for patients utilising HNELHD’s Excellence Leadership Framework.
- Providing high quality, evidence based, patient focussed management and care to admitted and non-admitted patients, families and carers who have requested or are undertaking Voluntary Assisted Dying
- Act in the roles of Coordinating, Consulting and Administering practitioner as outlined in the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 with reasonable and regular travel within HNELHD to provide services to people requesting voluntary assisted dying
