Brimbank City Council is seeking the services of a Development Planner to support the City Planning branch of Council.
Located just 12 km west of the Melbourne CBD and well connected by rail, bus and cycle corridors, Brimbank is one of the most culturally diverse municipalities in Victoria. Currently going through a rapid transformation, Brimbank is experiencing significant investment from the public and private sectors contributing to unprecedented growth and redevelopment of the Sunshine town centre and the Airport rail corridor. We are seeking someone with a friendly and vibrant persona who is excited about being a part of the challenges ahead and aspires to grow and develop amongst other like minded individuals. Whilst experience in local government is a preference, essential to the role is a knowledge and aptitude of working within the Victoria Planning system and someone who has a particular focus on delivering quality and efficient customer service. **Selection Criteria**
- Essential : Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours
- Desirable : Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning or a related discipline
- Desirable : An understanding of the Victorian planning system, knowledge of planning related legislation and regulations, and an appreciation of the relationship between strategic plans / policies and statutory planning process.
- Desirable : Conceptual and analytic skills, a capacity to identify and develop solutions to statutory planning issues
- Desirable : Demonstrated ability to provide advice about statutory planning matters, excellent writing and presentation skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Essential : Commitment to excellence in customer service and to managing stakeholder relations.
- Desirable : Interpersonal and problem solving skills.
- Desirable : Project management skills, including an ability to manage a range of issues simultaneously.
