**Himilo Homework Club - English Secondary School Tutor**
- Role_

Himilo Community Connect is looking for experienced tutors to join their team to support school and community-based homework club programs. Himilo Community Connect works in partnership with schools and community to improve educational and employment outcomes for Australian-Somali youth while promoting social cohesion and community connection.

Tutors work with individual or small groups of students to provide academic support and enrichment in a range of studies including Mathematics, English, Humanities and Science.

Aside from providing academic support, tutors work with students to increase learner engagement, confidence and motivation and career pathway success for older students.
- Duties and responsibilities_

Tutors are required to provide two hours of tutoring support. Tutors work with students to complete school set tasks and increase learning outcomes, confidence, and motivation.
- Skills and experience_

Applicants should demonstrate:

- Previous VCE English teaching experience
- Ability to provide learning materials
- Ability to engage students through a variety of learning techniques
- ‘Can do’ and ‘Will do’ attitude
- Experience and sound ability to support student learning at Secondary level
- An extensive understanding and specialisation in VCE English
- A strong foundation in literacy and numeracy
- Understanding of assessment and learning and the Victorian curriculum
- Identification with the values of our program and experience or interest in working with CALD young people
- Strong interpersonal, organisation and communication skills

Applicants must be willing to:

- A willingness to undergo a National Police check
- Participate in a Tutor Training seminar and cultural training
- Adhere to Child Safety policy and procedure
- Participate in monthly tutor meetings and provide feedback on student progression
