**The Role**
Within the Defence Graduate and Entry Level Programs Directorate’s (the Directorate) program delivery function an APS5 Program Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform complex transactional, procedural, operational and administrative work within an integrated workforce. They are responsible for understanding government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements and complying with relevant legislative frameworks.

As an APS 5 Program Officer you may be required to supervise a small team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and staff performance. Under direction from the Program Manager, you will review and develop the quality of work undertaken by others in the team.

This position is key in supporting the Program Manager and Assistant Director to achieve our business objectives.

As Program Officer your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Supporting and contributing to the development of policies and procedures to support participant or graduate experience
- Liaising and collaborating with key stakeholders, both internally and externally to increase awareness of Defence’s Graduate and Entry Level programs
- Planning and assisting the Program Manager to facilitate events and workshops-both internally and externally to promote entry level pathways into Defence
- Gathering client and stakeholder feedback to support continuous improvement
- Supporting the team to ensure Defence standards, processes and policies are understood and upheld by Program participants
- Assisting the Program Manager to develop and maintain a range of program materials, for example manuals and handbooks.
- General administrative duties, as required.

**About our Team**
The Defence Graduate and Entry Level Program Directorate supports organisational workforce capability through the management of Defence’s early career recruitment programs. Graduate and entry level programs deliver a diverse and skilled talent pool to support critical and emerging workforce demands and strengthen our people capability.
- Experience supporting, graduate and or entry level programs or a similar program/project would be beneficial, but is not compulsory.
- Providing quality administrative support
- Building positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and using their feedback to shape delivery outcomes
- Contributing to high level communications, for example Ministerial briefs, talking points, and committee papers
- Working collaboratively within a team to prioritise and manage workloads to meet critical deadlines
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
