Production Manager
We are currently seeking an established Visual Effects **Production Manager** with extensive feature film experience, to join our production team.
**Employment period**:12 month contract, starting ASAP.
**Location**: Adelaide, Australia. This position is open to Australian and international applicants. Visa and relocation assistance provided where applicable.
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, you are an integral part the production team. You will drive and monitor asset and shot production from turnover to delivery. Your communication, decisiveness, multi tasking ability and proactive nature sets you apart from other applicants. You take responsibility for your projects, following up and reporting clearly across multiple VFX disciplines and projects. You maintain excellent customer service and attention to detail. You are tough, but fair. A good negotiator and an affable, crew focused leader. You do not believe in pushing people past their limits or even getting close to that point. You do however value a solid days work.
Your previous titles may have included Line Producer, Senior Coordinator, Production Manager, Associate Producer, etc. You are focussed on creating an environment that allows people and teams to quickly reach weekly and rolling deadlines. With a solid work ethic, you represent company values with integrity and honesty, delivering results that exceed expectation.
This role will share joint responsibility for the leadership and management of a small team of coordinators. This position differs from a typical Coordination position in that you will be defining project milestones with supervisors and leads, feeding schedules into facility wide resource documents.
**Responsibilities**
- Seeking input from show supervisors, create and set project schedules & deliveries on a departmental and show basis within allocated resources and timeframes.
- Coordinate and track the progress of deliverables and targets against overall project plans.
- Resource in accordance with project parameters. Innovate when possible.
- Resolve any impasse between departments, communicating resolutions as necessary.
- Accurately update and maintain information systems with a focus on Shotgun.
- Consistently QA the input and output of all coordinators.
- Work with supervisors to develop team performance.
- Maintain strong project knowledge and overview, without having everything rest on your shoulders - ensure all information is readily available
- Attend production meetings: dailies, briefing sessions, client reviews, ensuring notes taken by coordinators are accurate and distributed in a timely fashion.
- Continually check in with coordinators, helping to overcome any blockers that may hinder delivery.
- Work with Editorial to ensure the successful delivery of work to the client.
- Be proactive to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Mentor and actively develop junior production crew members and those under your direct sphere of influence.
- Promote a collaborative and enjoyable workplace influencing morale, discussion and work ethic.
**Required skills and experience**
- Minimum 4 years [vendor side] production experience across major vfx-heavy feature films.
- Practical understanding of the entire post-production pipeline process from turnover to delivery.
- Extensive production experience with Shotgun.
- Multi-disciplinary understanding derived from working with tracking, modelling, animation, effects, look dev, lighting, compositing departments and everything in between.
- Sound experience scheduling complex and multi-faceted projects with MS Project desirable.
- Expert time management and prioritisation skills.
- Sharpened tactical and creative problem solving sensibilities with a can-do mindset.
- Able to work in multiple OS environments with command line experience desirable but not necessary.
