- The Discovery & Innovation Unit - the Regulatory Office at Austin Health. Our mission is to ensure that all research and clinical activities comply with the highest standards of ethics, governance, and operational efficiency. Acting on behalf of Austin Health, we are dedicated to maintaining a robust framework of compliance and excellence.
**About the role**:
- The Research Ethics & Compliance Manager will lead a team responsible for ethics reviews, governance oversight, and compliance audits for investigator-initiated and health service research. This role ensures that all research activities align with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement governance policies for research within the hospital.-
- Allocate resources for ethics and governance operations.-
- Manage a team of advisors and compliance leads.-
- Represent the directorate in high-level organizational meetings.-
- Implement AI tools to streamline review processes and enhance decision-making.-
- Ensure ongoing compliance with ethical standards and health service regulations.-
- Organise and conduct training sessions for researchers.-
- Prepare detailed reports for internal and external audits.-
- Collaborate with the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and other stakeholders.-
- Identify and implement improvements to ethical approval processes.**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)**:
- Effectiveness and efficiency of the governance team.-
- Timeliness and effectiveness of policy implementation.-
- Compliance rate of trials with ethical and regulatory standards.-
- Completion of ethics training programs by staff and committee members.-
- Stakeholder satisfaction with governance processes.-
- Accuracy and timeliness of governance reports.-
- Progress in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives.**About You**:
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams.-
- In-depth knowledge of clinical trial governance frameworks.-
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.-
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing research protocols.-
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders.-
- High attention to detail and ability to interpret complex protocols.-
- Experience in addressing and resolving governance issues.-
