Working for this innovative, technology driven organisation as the Database Manager will see you perform a key role in the Operations team. You will be responsible for providing technical and people leadership and operational best practice to a team of Database Engineers.

**Key accountabilities**
- Set the strategy for the organisation's Database Management as well as execute on day-to-day needs
- Ensure efficient and timely delivery of operational database administration activities, including administration activities, tuning, maintenance backups and security updates
- Establish and embed continuous improvement practices and feedback loops to capture and share learnings across other Customer Platform teams
- Effective management of change into the production environment, taking account of implementation risks and change priority with measurable quality targets and metrics
- Escalation for both Production and non-production environment Database incidents and problems
- Manage a team responsible for the ongoing Oracle and SQL Database administration to ensure data integrity, availability, and security is maintained and capacity plans are developed and maintained
- Planning and demand management for the Database team across operational and technology domains
- Drive the implementation of the organisation's Data Policies (data purge, archive and back-ups)
- Manage the respective financial aspects of the Database Management area to budget
- Provide and seek thought leadership on industry trends, people development, vendor management, toolsets, and processes
- Liaise with business, customer & technology stakeholders to ensure a customer-obsessed approach

**Skills and experience***
- A proven Technical Leader within experience across Oracle; Microsoft SQL; Amazon RDS database technologies
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, with peers and teams
- Proven management experience building and inspiring teams
- Strong understanding of software development practices, methodologies, and tools
- Commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and influencing skills
- Reliable, results-focused, self-motivated, and able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and data purging and archiving strategy and execution experience
- Experience in managing technology vendors
