Business / Operations Manager - East Coast

A rare opportunity to join an engineering services contractor with a solid track record of winning and executing Design & Construct (D&C) and Operations & maintenance (O&M) contracts across multiple utility and infrastructure sectors. Operating nationally, they have an established, successful executive team with a culture of active leadership development and inclusion in continuous improvement and strategic development of the business.

Growth in the transport infrastructure market has created a new leadership opportunity for a versatile business / operations manager to create, build and lead a value-add road maintenance services business on the Australian east coast. You will build a new business leveraging existing customers beyond current long-term operations & maintenance contracts and developing new clients to identify profitable, deliverable and risk assessed opportunities. Business opportunities will draw on the proven capability of the business in provision of civil / road works and specialist road services however you will also identify market demand for services that represent opportunities for acquisition of new specialist services. You will draw from existing talent to establish your operation.

Your responsibilities:
1. Execute the strategic business plan with accountability for growth and P&L management.

2. As a key member of the senior leadership team, provide critical input into the strategic direction of the business, develop future growth strategies in collaboration with the Service Stream Transport leadership team and Service Stream executive.

3. Hands-on development of relationships with customers primarily in NSW, VIC and QLD (East Coast), initiate conversations to understand the market / customer needs and identify suitable entry points.

4. Build / attract a team to match growth in the business.

5. The identification of suitable acquisitions to fast-track growth.

6. Take maintenance activities from development into delivery and operationally manage delivery

7. Build delivery team capability and capacity in each relevant location and market

Key selection criteria:
1. Track record of success in Operations or Business Management including work winning / business development and execution in the road transport (or related) sector.

2. Well networked within east coast state government transport departments and ideally private operators and councils

3. Able to influence customer decision makers, partners, internal stakeholders and technology providers to create value, structure commercially sound deals and assess risk.

4. Ability to develop and execute a business plan, understand key market drivers, identify opportunities appropriate for the stage of business growth (early stage / start up through to mature business).

5. Strong skills in operational management, commercial acumen, P&L management, competent people manager with well development engagement skills.

**Salary**: $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
