A litigation lawyer role at a law firm in Sydney.
**Your new company**
Our client is a boutique private practice law firm specialising in the area of motor claims. Offering an array of legal advice for anyone involved in a motor accident, they are a one-stop shop for litigation work. As a cost effective alternative to the larger national law firms for businesses and private clients, their portfolio of clients range from individuals to multinational operations. An opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join its high performing team. The role reports to the Senior Lawyer within the NSW team.
**Your new role**
- Acting for Plaintiffs in civil proceedings issued in the Local Courts of NSW.
- Appearing at Pre-Hearing Conference and Settlement Conference mediations, file and serve necessary Court documentation
- Preparing for Court Arbitrations/Hearings/Trials, briefing Counsel and otherwise negotiating settlements.
- Corresponding with Defendants and/or their representatives.
- Corresponding with insurance companies, process servers, courts and other external entities as required
- Drafting and settling Court Documents.
- Collection of and preparation of evidence including drafting affidavits and witness statements.
- Assisting the Senior Lawyer with management and supervision of the NSW team and with preparation of matters for pre-trial conferences, status conferences and final hearing as required
**What you'll need to succeed**

- Understanding of loss of use and credit hire law;
- Experience as a solicitor;
- Drafting court documentation, including:
- Statement of Claim;
- Affidavits
- Subpoenas;
- Requests and Answers to Further and Better Particulars;
- Requests and Answers to Interrogatories;
- Notices to Admit, Notices to Produce, Notices of Default and others;
- Negotiating commercial settlements;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team; and
- Ability to manage own file portfolio.
