Store/cafe Manager

**About the Role**

Black Star Pastry is going from strength to strength and after the successful opening of our flagship store at Chadstone we are set to re-open our fully refurbed St Kilda store located in the iconic Prince of Wales precinct.

This gorgeous new space will have its own unique identity whilst still offering the full range of Black Star Pastry’s signature cakes, together with specialist products, and first-class coffee from our partner St Ali.

With this we have a need for a Café Manager to take the helm, lead the team and manage all areas of the new store, including overseeing employee performance and the customer experience.

**This role could be a step up for a hospitality all-rounder looking to grow their career with a successful and stable business.**

Opening hours will be Wednesday-Sunday. 8:00am-4.00pm.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Provide ‘hands on’ leadership within the store, overseeing all direct employees ensuring that they are trained in all store processes, standards and expectations.
- Communicate position expectations and monitor employee performance including coaching, counselling and disciplining employees in partnership with HR.
- Ensure adherence to systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Complete weekly rosters in a fair and consistent manner and within budget requirements.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and WHS standards, establishing systems to ensure levels are consistent and acceptable, communicating clear expectations to the team.
- Ensuring quality of service by maintaining consistent standards, analysing and resolving quality and customer service problems, identifying trends and recommending system improvements.
- Participate in leadership meetings and workshops.

**About You**
- 2-3 years’ leadership experience in hospitality or retail, **or someone ready to take a step up**:

- Passionate about the customer experience and product quality
- Ability to connect with customers and provide an exceptional customer experience in a fast-paced environment
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated capability to multi-task - your organizational skills will be a strength

- Authentic and down to earth with a genuine love of people
- Love of cake a bonus

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney and our innovative new store at Chadstone.

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
