Mechanical Isolations Coordinator

Allship Engineering has established a dual role position for a qualified Mechanical Fitter who is interested is performing trade tasks and coordinating mechanical isolations of various marine systems on Navy ships.

Previous experience as a Marine Technician in the Royal Australian Navy is highly regarded.

Primary work locations are Henderson, Fremantle, and Rockingham.

Rate of pay is dependent upon which role is performed, experience, and qualifications:
Mechanical Fitter - $43-45 per hour.

Mechanical Isolations Coordinator - $60-70 per hour.

38-hour work week. Overtime and penalty rates offered in line with the relevant Award.

**Mechanical Isolations Coordinator Duties**
- At all times, do all that is reasonably practicable to ensure your own safety, and the safety of people around you
- In conjunction with the system/equipment owner, confirm mechanical isolation requirements
- Understand testing procedures and be competent in the use of testing equipment
- Assess and approve all activities where hazardous energy may be present and issue permit to work
- Attend the worksite and verify all isolations are complete
- Assess isolation plans and add/remove/modify plans to ensure integrity and safety of isolation configurations
- Manage electronic and manual danger tagging systems as per Client policy and procedure
- Conduct inspections post de-isolation to ensure marine systems are returned to operational and/or desired system configuration/s
- Conduct equipment and marine system inspections
- Attend Critical Risk meetings as the company representative as directed
- Liaise with client to prioritise scheduling of isolations as directed.

**Mechanical Fitter Duties**
- Conduct mechanical fitting trade tasks relevant to your qualifications and experience
- Actively support Leading Hands/Supervisors in the management of, and completion of Task Packs, inclusive of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Provide daily updates to Leading Hands on the status of job packs you are responsible for
- Identify mandatory task requirements through critical review of Work Instructions, Repair Specifications and Repair Plans
- Inform Leading Hands/Project Supervisors when ITP’s do not adequately reflect the identified task requirements
- Inform Leading Hands/Project Supervisors when ITP’s and SWMS do not adequately capture the necessary safety assessments and associated mitigations
- Inform Leading Hands of resource shortages required to complete delegated tasks
- Support the delivery of mechanical fitting tasks to ensure conformance to Client requirements and specifications
- Report on WHS issues encountered onsite.

**Qualifications & Education Requirements**
- Minimum Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (MEM30205) or equivalent _**(essential)**_
- Construction white card _**(essential)**_
- C class driver’s licence _**(essential)**_
- MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit (desirable)
- MSMPER300 - Issue work permits (desirable)
- MSMWHS201 - Conduct hazard analysis (desirable)
- MSMWHS217 - Gas test atmospheres (desirable)
- RIIRIS201E - Conduct local risk control (desirable)
- RIIWHS202E - Enter and work in confined spaces (desirable)
- RIIWHS204E - Work safely at heights (desirable)
- UETDRMP007 - Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel (desirable)

**Preferred Skills**
- 4 years’ experience in a Marine Trade
- Ability to read, understand, interpret Repair Specifications, Work Instruction and Repair Plans
- Ability to read, understand and complete Risk Assessment Tools
- Ability to read, understand and complete Inductions and Safety questionnaires
- Ability to read and understand engineering schematics/drawings
- Physical ability to climb ladders and stairwells as is required in marine sites
- Basic computer skills such as using Microsoft 365.

Pay: $43.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
