**The opportunity

As our Farm Supervisor, Smart Farms, your duties include:

- Provide technical support advice and services to DAF, University and external clients to support trials on Gatton Research Facility.
- Assist with the implementation and operations of the Gatton Smart Farm Complex.
- Work independently and collaboratively, implementing Facility Manager and or researchers' instructions to successfully complete tasks to support research projects, including liaising with clients to plan and allocate resources to ensure efficient and effective support to all clients.
- Contribute to Gatton Research Facility strategic plans to achieve short-, medium and long-term milestones.
- Establish, enhance and maintain relationships to foster good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Manage the Farm Support team and casual staff in accordance with DAF policies and procedures.
- Manage the maintenance program for heavy plant, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure assets are safe, functional and ready to use.
- Ensuring a safe work environment through risk management, documentation and compliance with statutory and corporate requirements.
- Utilise standardised programs, packages and systems to enhance site operations and reporting (Ag Commander, Chemwatch).

You will also have:

- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a research-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to handle and operate both traditional and technologically advanced farming equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in agricultural operations and team leadership.

What we are looking for
There are some qualifications that we see as essential. You must possess:

- Minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Agricultural or Animal Sciences or relevant equivalent.
- A current 'C' class drivers' licence.
- HR Truck Licence (with ability to acquire an HC Licence)

The following are desirable and would be required within 12-24 months of employment (support will be provided).
- Chemical accreditation (Chemcert) or the ability and willingness to acquire.
