The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. About the role
The Supervising Registrar, CIP supervises and develops a team of CIP Registrars and Data Custodians who are responsible for responding to requests for information from family violence partner agencies. The Supervising Registrar, CIP also provides an escalation point for the CIP Data Custodian team; provides support and guidance with complex reporting requirements; and is responsible for the delivery of quality and timely outputs of the CIP Data Custodians.
About you
- Demonstrate specialised knowledge in performing legal, administrative, and quasi-judicial functions in accordance with operational policies and practices.
- Provide analysis and advice to stakeholders on legislation, and act as an escalation point for complex matters as required.
- Provide leadership to a team of CIP Data Custodians including assisting with planning and delivery of professional development initiatives, and provision of ongoing support, guidance, and training.
- Communicate and contribute to team planning and multidisciplinary discussions; work process improvements; day-to-day administration; and the ongoing development of the CIP.
- Collaborate with Family Safety Victoria (FSV) CIP Coordinators and use specialised knowledge to assist with the delegation of work to MCV Data Custodians and monitor outputs to ensure reports are delivered within deadlines and meet appropriate standards.
- Prepare written correspondence, reports, presentations, and briefings on complex items at an advanced level as required, including viable options for consideration and well-reasoned recommendations on CIP related activity.
- Negotiates with stakeholders and peers to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including FSV, DFFH Child Protection, DJCS and Victoria Police in the delivery of CIP objectives.
- Other duties as directed and commensurate with the skills and classification level of the role.
- Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) and/or relevant qualification in family violence or another field would be highly regarded.
