**About the Role**

The role is responsible for engaging with school communities including school leaders, teachers, students and parents to promote Road Safety Education and interventions across learning stages and to help school communities build their understanding and capacity to embed good road safety policy and practice in school settings. The role is also responsible for expert engagement with regional road safety partnerships officers, local and state government to ensure that road safety is aligned to other priority issues such health and wellbeing, climate change and active transport.

**Position Outcomes**
- Project Delivery: Research, identify, and support co-design activities with schools to support the implementation of the Whole of School Community Model. Work effectively with school communities to promote and build awareness of road safety education and interventions across the learning stages. Build the capacity of school communities to implement road and transport safety policy and practice.
- Develop capability: Explore and improve knowledge and practice of safe systems thinking/embedment in school communities. Including the delivery of professional development and training and information sessions to school leaders, school council, teaching staff, students and parents.
- Strong Relationships: Builds and maintains effective and strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and leads strategic partnerships with Department of Education and Training, Local Government,school communities and young people.
- Specialist and high-quality advice: Provide timely, high quality, authoritative strategic, tactical, and operational advice to support the development and implementation of Road Safety Education strategy, goals, and action plans.
- Partnering and Co-creation: This role has an emphasis on working collaboratively with school communities and has an area of focus on engaging young people as the key beneficiary of road safety education, systems and services.

- Develop capability (Applied) - Actively seeks to improve others’ skills and talents by providing knowledge, constructive feedback, coaching and learning opportunities; Consistently develops team capability; Recognise and develop potential in others.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- A tertiary qualification in Education
- Experience working in a school-based setting.
- Experience in the design and delivery of school-based programs and curriculum development.

**Desirable**
- Experience working with road safety initiatives.
- Experience in co-design or co-creating approaches with young people.
- Experience in project management.
